Why Every Bar or Pub Should Have a Website

Author: James Hrenak

In today’s technology filled world, just about any business can benefit from having a website. Bars (or pubs, taverns, lounges, tap houses, saloons, etc) are no exception to this rule. Actually, when you think about it, what major bar doesn’t have a website?

Websites can make a major difference when it comes to bringing new visitors to your establishment, by offering a vast number of features to lure them or bring them back.

A website can provide visitors with general details like hours of operation, location(s), menus, specials, contact options, information on staff, and so much more.

You can provide a detailed calendar of events that display whats coming in the future, such as special guests, parties, DJ’s and artist/band performances. It can be a normal listing or a fully interactive calendar system. You can use the calendar or listing system to also display variations in your venue’s daily activities. All of this can be used to keep your visitors coming back for more.

A great benefit for bars that project a more club-like atmosphere, is the ability to offer visitors a chance to sign up for a guest list and reserve a table or bottle service for special events. Or, simply request more information on any of these so that a representative can call them about it.

Also, a very popular feature for bars, is a gallery section to list sections filled with images from prior events, or simply a general gallery of what the bar looks like in it’s best presentable mood. During special events/attractions, visitors love to hear that their picture may be taken and posted on the bar’s website for all to see. You can hand them a card with the address on it so they can visit it the next day to view/download the image(s). This way they can share those images with their friends through means such as social networks, and then their friends will see these pictures and want to come check out the bar for themselves.

A listing of food and beverages can be shared for visitors to preview what to expect when they get there. Share additional information on sponsors or special guests, offer press/news information, options in regards to employment, history about the bar, stream music, and once again…so much more.

For any bar, pub, lounge or tavern (large or small), websites not only offer another excellent form of advertisement, they also add to the experience of their visitors that seems to keep going even when they leave. Even for the more “hole-in-the-wall” bars, who may only need a few pages in a site to share it’s unique experience.
